We propose to secure a property in the Hill Unit area and make it into a combined Natural Resource Visitor Center and Community Center, as well as the Land Trust office.
COMMUNITY CENTER AMENITIES
We envision a facility that is suitable for up to 60 people to gather at one time, with access to a well-appointed, comfortable indoor space (for playing and watching games, holding exercise classes, and hosting fundraising events and special dinners) as well as a shaded outdoor gathering area complete with a large BBQ pit to host community events. The ideal spot would be accessible year-round, and have excellent Internet and telephone services for the benefit of both the Land Trust and Community Center members.
VISITOR CENTER AMENITIES
In addition to being available to host community get-togethers, the building would also function as a visitor center, offering information on the natural history and geography of the area and functioning as a central starting point for groups who might want to hike, fish or camp in the area. We even hope to cultivate a native plant garden walk to bring the natural history of the area to life.
HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR THAT?
Through the sale of annual Community Center memberships, space rental, donations, fundraising and volunteer efforts.
